Rules For changing Present continues Tense From Direct to indirect speech
1 Change of Tense
To change the direct speech of Present continues Tense its helping verbs ( is/are Verb+ing) are changes into the past continues Tense helping verbs ( was/were +verb+ing)

Direct Speech: Ali said ” I am reading a book”
changes to
Indirect: Ali said that he was reading a book
2 Change of Pronouns
Pronouns are changed according to the subject and object of the reporting verb.

Direct Speech: Jabbar said ” I am playing football”
changes to indirect speech
Jabber said that he was playing football.
3 Change of time and place words
words like “now” changes to then and today to “that day” in indirect speech

4 Use of Reporting Verbs
