Social Evils are very dangerous and harmful practices that are affecting our society extremely adverse. These kinds of problems can create injustice, inequality and suffering for the peoples in the society. Some common social evils are Poverty, child labour, corruption, dowery, gender discrimination and drug addiction. These issues are affecting the nations from developing and growing.

1 Poverty
Poverty is one of the racerest social evils. Millions of people from all around the world are struggling to meet basic needs like food shelter and health care. Lack of proper education and unemployment are two major causes of poverty.
As Nelson Mandela once said “ overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity, it is an act of justice”.
Governments and organizations must have to work together to create better job opportunities and education for all.
2 Corruption
Corruption weakens a country by allowing dishonest practices within the government daily life and business. When people are misusing their power or taking bribes then merit and justice will disappear.

Government should formulate strict laws and create transparency to reduce corruption.
3 Child Labor
Child labor is forcing young children to work instead of going to school. This destroys their future and keeps them trapped in poverty their whole life. Many children work in different kinds of factories, mines, and homes under dangerous conditions.
As quoted by Kailash Satyarthi a nobel peace prize winner “ child labor perpetual poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and population growth”.
Government should take strict legal action against child labor.
4 Gender Discrimination
Gender discrimination means treating people biasedly based on their gender. In many societies women did not get equal rights like education and job opportunities like men. They are also victims of different kind of crimes like abuse, domestic violence and harassment.
As Malala Yousafzai said, “ we can not succeed when half of us are held back”.
We have to provide the equal opportunities to both men and women to end the gender discrimination.
5 Dowry System
The dowery system is a bad tradition on which a brides family give money gifts or property to the groom. This kind of practice is very common specially in the subcontinent where many girls are marrying very late due to dowry system. Many women also face abuse or even death if their families fail to give required dowery.

We the peoples have to reject dowery and promote love and respect in the marriages.
6 Drug Addiction
Drug have destroye had not only destroyed the individuals life but while families. Many people are traped in taking the drugs at very young age that increase crimes and health problems.
As Paulo Coelho said “ if you want to control someone, all you have to do is to make them feel afraid”.
Drug addiction is caused by many reasons like mental stress and lack of awareness. Government and societies have to work together to run awareness programs and provide rehabilitation to addicts.
Effects of Social Evils
Social evils are not only harming individuals but the entire country. They care causing crimes poverty and suffering. A country affected by social evils can not progress.
As Dr B.R. Ambedkar said “ so long as you do not achieve social liberty, whatever freedom is provided by the law is of no avail to you”
To achieve the nations goals we must have to eliminate these harmful practices.

We can eliminate the social evils by using following ways

✔ Strict Laws: Government should formulate and enforce strict laws against social evils like labor dowry, and others
✔ Public Awareness: We must aware our peoples about the negative effects of social evils through social media campaign seminars and discussions.
✔ Empowerment of Women:To reduce gender discrimination and dowry practices we have to empower our women by giving equal rights and opportunities to them.
✔ Youth Involvement:Youth can play a great role to empower any nations and fight against these kind of social evils by raising their voices and participating in social work.
